Rolf was born in Switzerland and is an electro-mechanic by training. He started his career as R&D engineer at ABB and residential engineer at London Underground Central Line. After several management positions at Adtranz, he was responsible for the worldwide Engineering at BT Propulsion and Controls. 2008 he was appointed CEO at Sersa Group, an infrastructure company. 2012 he changed to Knorr-Bremse SfS GmbH and became the managing director. In August 2017 he became Chief Technology Innovation Officer at Deutsche Bahn AG.
